Course Description

This workshop provided community members and service providers with accurate and comprehensive information about refugees and refugee resettlement. Information regarded supporting individuals and organizations in understanding the pre-migration experiences of refugees, offering practical tools for working with refugee families, and providing ideas for creating welcoming and inclusive environments that ensure sustainable and successful resettlement of refugees and other migrants in Alberta. Upon completion of the workshop, participants were able to:

  • Describe refugee pathways and the global and historical contexts to the most recent resettlement efforts
  • Identify barriers and opportunities when working with refugee individuals and families
  • Use reflective and analytical tools to build inclusive and equitable practices for refugee individuals and families
