Initiative Background

March 21 marks the International Day for the Elimination of Racism. In the spirit of sharing stories, CFRAC is partnering with the Canadian Cultural Mosaic Foundation to bring their Anti-Racism Film Festival to Edmonton. This festival will be preceded by a 48-hour film challenge during which teams will create films that explore ideas of racism, discrimination, and justice. The film challenge will take place from February 17-19, 2017, during which a Poetry Jam will also be hosted at Massawa Cafe on February 18 at 7:00pm. All completed films from the challenge will be showcased during the inaugural film festival on March 21 at the Red Carpet screening at Princess Theatre. We hope to create a space in which a voice can be given to the racial discrimination that many of our community members experience, all the while building community.
