Initiative Background

The 21for21 campaign was designed to commemorate March 21st, the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. The campaign invites organizations and individuals in Edmonton to commit to an intentional action that can help build a racism-free community.

These are some of the actions that Edmonton individuals and organizations have committed to:

Who: REACH Edmonton, Council for Safe Communities

What: Working with Muslim service providers and Al Rashid Mosque to educate service providers and REACH membership on understanding Islam in the community and accessing tours of the Mosque. Educating ourselves about hate crimes/incidents with Edmonton Police Service and Irfan Chaudhry, professor at Grant MacEwan who monitors hate crimes provincially.
