Celebrating Women in Our Community on International Women’s Day

International Women’s Day serves to celebrate women’s achievements as well as to continue to push for gender parity across the world. Special guest speakers from diverse backgrounds will share their stories as well as discuss important social changes helping to empower women. Funke Olokude

Funke is an energetic and innovative human working to continuously deliver cutting-edge collaborative practice by leading from the margins to promote a holistic approach to issues impacting individuals, systems, and policies to bring about transformative and equitable change.

She is an Intercultural Relationship Facilitator and Educator working to highlight the complex intersecting realities of vulnerable and marginalized individuals and families.

Funke has over fifteen years of extensive work experience in the social service industry working with diverse populations and sectors in Ontario, Quebec, and Alberta where she has continuously promoted equity in policy and practice that have led to transformational relationships between individuals and within systems.

In 2020, Funke was named Top 40 under 40 for her continued work in influencing policy and practice across various sectors in Alberta. She is the current Executive Director of The Ribbon Rouge Foundation and the Co-founder of Hexagon Wellness Solutions.

 

Adetoun Abby Aiyeleye

At the forefront of women’s advocacy and product design for niche markets, you’ll find Adetoun Abby Aiyeleye. Her 15+ years of community work and business footprints trail across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and North America

A recipient of multiple honours and awards, Abby’s lived experiences and qualifications continue to fuel her drive to deliver undeniably fit-for-purpose products/services. She contributes to the ecosystem by advising the Edmonton Innovation Growth Council, engaging in women and youth mentorship, and sitting on not-for-profit boards with missions across business and community support.

As Co-founder of Clavis Studio, Abby is redefining the approach to interior design using immersive 3D technology that showcases the immeasurable possibilities of the metaverse in design and infrastructure planning. Her goal is to drive tech adoption in traditional or less predictable sectors and promote a tech-driven economy by creating jobs and expanding market access for Clavis-powered businesses.
